Bioinformatics Toolbox

Animal Genetics and Genomic Platform
Department of Primary Industries

Additional partners include La Trobe University and other collaborators at the the Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre.

Bioinformatics is the use of statistical and computational techniques to solve biological problems at the molecular level. The research undertaken as part of the DPI Animal Genetics and Genomics Platform covers three areas: computational biology, functional genomics and molecular genetics. Advanced computing systems at DPI-Attwood allow for the analysis of large scale animal genetics, proteomic and bioinformatics projects.

The collaboration with VeRSI is to provide a ‘toolbox’ for bioinformatics researchers. This will be delivered via a computational grid connecting computational resources across the partners. The toolbox will allow for the storage of data for processing as well as the results.
